"Captured Happiness" Design Team creation for 49andMarket

Hi there crafty friends. I am back with you today to share a new beachy project. Here in Australia where I live it has been mighty hot,

and the feeling of wanting to be at the beach was on my mind. But it was far too hot to venture out so a layout in the air-conditioning of my art studio was in order.

For this project I have used a different kind of photo. One of my youngest’s leg after she had sat and played in the silty mud like sand at one of

our special favourite spots a few years back. She got up and drew this smiley face which I photographed like I do with everything. And it caught my eye going

through some pics. I have titled this project “Captured happiness”. I hope you enjoy it.

I used the “Old School” collection for my project. The colours were a perfect match so it made for a very easy project. I prepped the “b” side of  “Penmanship” with a clear gesso and added in textures using a mix of modelling paste from TCW along with a black pigment powder from Couture Creations. I also added in more colour on the background with Viva Décor Inka Gold in the colour of Cobalt Blue.

I used a second sheet from the “Old School” collection called “High School”, for the matting and layering of my portrait colour photo. Both sides of the papers were used. The edges of each piece of paper was distressed and sanded and layered amongst old pieces of board to give more dimension to my project. These were adhered more to the right side of my project.

I then moved on to adding in archival boards from the black “Timeless” pack. And also a black archival board of a photo negative that I found floating amongst my stash. Colour was added to the archival boards using some of the cobalt blue in the viva gold. This looks so pretty on the black board it really does. I added over some jute cording that was wrapped twice around. Once this sat over the photo I really thought I needed a little of 49andMarket’s burlap to keep with this colouring . This was distressed a little and added amongst the layers of chipboards. Distressed sections of muslin was also used amongst the layers. These were stretched out  and then glued using a gel medium. Whilst the gel medium was still wet I sprinkled over 3 different sizes of art stones to break up the colour. I also found a cute little bird from the older collection of Heirloom Botanicals that was added in.

The addition of florals with the navy colour coming from one of my last packs of the gorgeous Botanical Potpourri’s. This would have to have been one of my most favourite colours and flowers from 49andMarket that I have put off using them for so long. I combined a pack of the mini series flowers in Storm amongst the navy flowers. Some of the flowers were split apart to go a little further.

Lastly I added in my title “Captured” that was dressed in White Opal Liquid Pearls. Also some tiny shells and splatters of white gesso watered down along with a few of the Wishing Bubbles in Blueberry. I coloured over these a little more with the cobalt Inka Gold. Well that is my completed project. I do hope it has inspired you in some small way to do some crafting in the coming week. I hope wherever you live at present that you are keeping safe. Until next time take care.

"With all my heart"

Hello and a big welcome back 49andMarket friends. Tina with you today to share another of my projects using the ever so beautiful products from 49andMarket.

I have called this “With all my heart”.

I really am so lucky to be on this team. I often pinch myself. It is such a huge privilege and one that I am forever grateful of. And the reason I am telling you this is that in the past week I have been ever so low on creating mojo I think you might call it. I have been lacking in creativity or the want to create. And what I find for myself is that sitting and staring at my desk never really works. But what does work is just looking at all the beautiful and gorgeous products that I have been given over my time on 49andMarket. Just doing this got the mojo juices flowing. And the project above is what I came up with.

Oh how I love this photo taken by one of my children I think. Me in a photo does not happen often but I think what I love about this pic is the happiness on my little ones face. I really have no idea what had happened during the photo but it is just the moment that has been captured that pulls on the heart strings. And to think this little one turns 16 in only a matter of weeks......... I have used “Whisper” from the “Ethereal” collection. I used two pieces, one for my background and the other for matting of my photo. I did some distressing with the layers behind the photo and popped some up on board to give some dimension. On my background I added in texture using Ranger Crackle Paste and a Script layering stencil. Also I added in colour using acrylic paints as well as some stamping in archival ink. I added in the matting layers and then went to work on adding embellishments. I really love 49’s newest rub-ons so it was my challenge to me to incorporate them into this project. Once I new what my title was I decided on using the stitched hearts and the stitching. I loved using these. They went on so easily with out a problem. And they are crispy clear.

I have used a mix of chipboards and MDF’s to help embellish my layout. I used embossing powders along with acrylic paints and distress inks to colour them. Once all the shapes were in place I went to work on adding in my flower clusters. This took me many hours deciding on a colour and in the end I used many different tones. Something somewhat different for me. I have used many packets of the Sugar Posies and Sugar Petals. I love the colours of these flowers they are amazing. I used the Tutti Fruitti colours and then added in the Twilight from the Garden Petals collection. These matched in perfectly with the Tutti Fruitti flowers and the papers. It was as if they were meant to be together. I toned down the colour a little using a dry brush technique with white gesso. I also added in some pretty silver Micro Beads to add the finishing touches to my project.

I have also used all of the leaves and branches from the Sugar Posies packs. These are just the cutest. They helped to break up some of the white from my mdf flourishes
and just in general. And finishing off I added in some clear crackle over the skeleton clockface and the cute hot air balloon.

Well that is all from me today. I hope this has inspired you in some small way. Just remember the next time you are a little low on mojo not to push yourself but rather
enjoy all the gorgeous products you have and from there I am sure you will find your creativity. Big hugs and until next time happy crafting.

"Fly without wings" 49andMarket Design Team Creation

Hi there friends. I hope this post finds you healthy and happy.

I am back today to share my latest creation for 49andMarket. I have called this project “Fly without wings”. I hope you enjoy my post today, so without further ado I will give you a little rundown of the products used and my creative process.

As you could well imagine every two weeks choosing from the amazing collections from 49andMarket is no mean feat. I um and ah so much it even annoys me!! So when I started creating this project for today I swapped backwards and forwards with differing collections always coming back to the Vintage Artistry Lilac. Oh how I love this collection. The softness of the papers always bring me back to the shabby vintage style of scrapbooking which I love to create in.

I started out with the patterned paper “Tranquil”. This is a beautiful piece with a very simplistic background, a little cursive writing on it and touches of imperfections which always makes for a gorgeous backdrop. I added a small amount of interest to the background paper using Crackle Paste and some random stamping with Ethereal Stamp Set and Black Soot distress ink. I also used the piece “Mystique” from the Lilac Collection as well as the backer card of Sweet Reflections to help the lilacs pop a little. The blues and greys in the Sweet Reflections piece does exactly this. So using the Mystique and Sweet Reflections backer card I made lots layers and mats for my gorgeous photo of my daughter from her formal, to sit upon. I also added in ticket elements from the Lilac Ephemera Stack to help with the layers. These stacks are just amazing with a multitude of tones of purple to help with projects.

I added in some other elements too from the cut out sheets of the backer papers which you will always find in the collection packs. I have used the clocks from the Tattered Garden Sheet, and cut them in half to allow them to go further around my layout. These were also layered up on some Dusty Attic Chipboard doilies which added more interest to the clocks. To the clock faces I dressed them with acrylic paint and also a large covering of Dusty Attic Clear Crackle Varnish.

I have used numerous different collections of flowers from 49andMarket to help with my clustering of flowers. These include the Lavender from the Daisy Stems and the baby Blues from the Sugar Posies Huckleberry collections. With the Fluff from the Sugar Posies collection I used some in white and some I coloured using a mix of white gesso with some Acrylic Paint in Sugar Plum. This gave me a gentler pinkish colour.

Serendiptious Layered Embellishments

Star Dust Stickles

As you will notice I added in many more chipboards pieces to help frame my photo. Also I added in some laces cut into pieces. The butterflies are from the older collection of 49andMarket’s layered embellishments. The blue leaves were from the Serendipitous collection of layered embellishments. I chose the title name from the barcode strip of the Irrevocable Beauty “Petrarch” paper...... “Fly without wings”. Finishing up my project I added in some pretty flower pearls with mat gel and some Star Dust Stickles over my flower stamens and butterflies and little birds.

Well that is all from me today. I do hope you have enjoyed my blog post.

Take care and until next time happy crafting.

"To the moon and back" 49andMarket DT project

Hello 49andMarket friends and welcome . I am back with you today to share a pretty purple project. With Father’s Day just around the corner I thought I would do a project using a special photo of my youngest daughter and husband. And although this photo is less than clear, I still really wanted to use it because of the special moment captured between them. I find reducing the size of the photo helps this problem. So that is what I did. I have titled this project "To the moon and back".

I have used 49andMarket’s Vintage Artistry Colours in Lilac. Oh my goodness this is by far one of my favourite collections. Purple was never my go to colour but these days, purple really sparks my creativity. I started my base background off by tearing papers from both Ingénue and the Mystique patterned papers. I layered Mystique through the middle of Ingénue leaving the the white core from the tearing showing outwards. I primed the background with Liquitex clear gesso, and added in crackle texture through a Dress My Craft Stencil and then using the leftovers from Ingénue and Mystique I cut differing sized pieces to layer beneath my black and white photo. I also added in some pieces from the Gestural patterned paper sheet.

I have also added in some crackle paste, free hand around the edges of the background page to soften it a little. While I still had the crackle out, I dressed my Dusty Attic ATC frames and Elegant frame chipboard pieces in it giving each a very thick layer of crackle. Once these pieces dried I added in the leftover papers to the back of the frames. I also used a MDF frame from iCraft. The orange of the MDF worked really well with this project so I left the wooden element free of media. I cut it into three pieces and then added these and the other chipboards to my project. Amongst these embellishments I added in the gorgeous laser cuts from the Irrevocable Beauty collection. They matched perfectly to this project. I used these pieces and layered them amongst the chipboards and then I also added in the gorgeous Violet colour from 49andMarket’s Wildflowers and the Mint from the Enchanted Petals collection.

I decided I still needed a little something more so I added in some gorgeous lace from my collection and threaded through the measuring tape strip from the bottom of the “Ingénue” sheet. These pieces I find are great for that little extra. Moving along to complete my project I did a little random stamping using two of 49andMarket’s stamp sets which are listed below. I added some stardust stickles to the Laser Cut flower centres and the little Grasshopper, (isn’t he the cutest) I find this helps them shine a little more. I also stained a length of muslin with coffee and dried it off a little. This was used to help highlight areas of the project that were not popping. Finishing touches were some orange seed beads and dry brushing with white gesso.

Well that is my project completed and ready to showcase in our living area. I hope you have enjoyed my project today. Thankyou so much for popping by. Until next time take care and happy crafting.
