"Life is Beautiful" - DT creation for Fabscraps

Welcome once more!
Another share today........this is my first this year for my part on the Fabulicious Fabscraps Team.
My parcel arrived from South Africa last week and I can't explain how happy I was to see it! Every time I heard the postie I would be out the front waiting. So for my first reveal I have incorporated my DT creation using the Sketch Challenge over at The Scrapbook Store.
Marelize has been very busy creating her sketch and what an inspirational sketch it is. I have not always been a lover of multi - photo layouts but as it turns out I really enjoy them. I also like a good challenge!!!!!!! Her sketch you can find below or pop on over to the store here.

"Life is Beautiful"
You will see from the sketch that I tried to keep it all similar but different!
I started out by stamping a border with a vintage vine stamp from my collection. I have used Ranger Archival ink in the Potting Mix colour to achieve this border frame.

I have added in some pretty blooms and green leaves with a few stamens. I have also glued in a few of the seed barrels that fell off the branches.

Here you can see the stenciling I achieved using Fabscraps Stencil DS035 And over the top of it I have embossed an acrylic stamp quote onto the Fabscraps Sewing Patterns paper, which reads:

"Enjoy the little things in life,
for one day you'll look back and realise
they were the big things."

I decided to change the layout to three smaller photos at the base to equalize my layout.

And whilst out on a walk with the dogs last week I picked up a few dead branches that you can see here with the seed barrels still attached. I have ensured that they are securely glued and then gessoed them and also dabbed a little Glimmermist Silver Sugar over the top to make them sparkle.

I so love this Fabscraps Chipboard Window. I have inked and then covered it with Crackled Texture Paste and let it stand overnight. I then rubbed a little Viva Gold over the top and wiped the excess with a baby wipe.

And another close-up.

.
Well that's all from me today. I so hope you have enjoyed your visit here today. I have listed a full materials list below for your convenience.

There is a lot more inspiration for this collection over at the Fabscraps blog here.

Until next time.........

"Paradise Found" - Design Team Creation for The Scrapbook Store

Well hello!!
It has been a huge week scrapping wise for me! I don't think I have ever scrapped so much ever! But there is still so much more to do, so today I am going to be short and sweet!
I have chosen to scrap a beautiful photo of my eldest daughter at the beach a few years ago......when it was still cool for her to go with the family.....(hehehehehe).

I hope you enjoy this. I have titled the layout ....."Paradise Found".

This layout kind of lent itself to a brighter page than I orginally started with. With a little guidance from my two biggest supporters (my daughters) they assured me that it would be okay!!

I have gone with some beautiful Scrapmatts Nautical chipboard pieces as seen here. They have been layered in under and around the flower cluster. They were dressed with some gesso and a little distress ink.

I think my flower cluster here grew considerably from the original plan. Here you can see that I have used some Dusty Attic Fishnet Panel. The large flourish you can see in the background is a mystery to me. I found it in my miscellaneous collection and can't for the life of me remember where it is from .....sorry !

Another close-up and I have also used a little more Dusty Attic ......this time the mini seagull which I have inked in some black and highlighted with a little dimensional magic.

And I soooooooo love this little cluster in the corner. I had also originally fussy cut the octopus legs from the patterned paper and wrapped them around the small lighthouse........but as it progressed it all got a little lost in my cluster!

I had an old coral necklace sitting around so I cut the very small shells from it and popped them into the little glass bottle shown here.

And again..........and to finish off I simply splashed over some white ink.
Well I certainly hope you have enjoyed this layout. For a materials list of products used for this layout just keep scrolling.

Until next time.......happy scrapping.

"Only as much as I dream".- August Design Team creation for The Scrapbook Store

Hello and welcome once more.
Today I have another Design Team creation for The Scrapbook Store.
This month I have been using Bo-Bunny's "Penny Emporium" collection and I am totally in love with these papers. So very versatile.
My inspiration for this layout has come purely from the photo. Even though this may not be the clearest of photos it has to be a favourite of mine. It, as most of my photos are, from quite a large series of similar photos. But what I love about it is of course is the memory behind it. All Cydne wanted to do this day on the swing was to touch the clouds! And try she did and so I merrily clicked away while she pushed herself back and forwards for quite a time until she decided that it may not happen today.......maybe when she is older and bigger.........a beautiful memory for me.

I have titled this layout "Only as much as I dream" which was taken in part from the quote which
I have hand written. It reads:

Only as high as I reach
can I grow
Only as far as I seek
can I go
Only as deep as I look
can I see
Only as much as I dream
can I be......

For the biggest part of this layout is the fussy cutting. Something I love to do to pass the time whilst waiting in the car waiting for my children at extra curricular activity afternoons. Sometimes I am there for a couple of hours.
And I must say this has to be one of the harder pieces I have ever selected to fussy cut. I use a glass EK Sucess Mat and a very sharp craft knife to do the job. I find the blade slides nicely across the glass.......just be careful not to get your fingers in the way. I find my blade stays sharper for longer on the glass too.

I think these Dusty Attic Wrought Iron Fence Borders have to be a favourite of mine at the moment. I have done several layouts from the one piece of chipboard. I just simply cut whatever I need from it!These pieces here have been dry brushed with gesso and then inked with a little Vintage Photo distress ink to give it an aged look.

And again....

I had a rub-on quote to use for this layout and unfortunately I think it has seen its use by date, hence it didn't work so I have used my own handwriting instead.

Some more Dusty Attic .......this time Branches. These are just gorgeous. And I have also used some of Prima Marketing Inc.'s newest floral to co-ordinate with the layout. These are from the Coy Adelle collection.

This chipboard.......Dusty Attic title has been dressed with Liquid Pearls Platinum. I have also added in a few rhinestones to bling the page a little and make it prettier.

Well that's all from me today.
I so hope you have liked today's layout. I have listed a materials list below for your convenience. All products used for this layout are also available online from The Scrapbook Store.

Until next time happy scrapping.

Yesterday, today & tomorrow - Design Team Creation for The Scrapbook Store

Hello my lovely friends.
Welcome back to my blog. I have the second of my Design Team creations for The Scrapbook Store today. As I have said previously, I was quite happy when I received my box of goodies this month, full of Bo-Bunny's "Penny Emporium" collection. The main reason being that this collection has a lot of purple through it and I can't really ever recall doing too much with purple and I love a challenge. But I didn't realise that the first part of my challenge would be finding purple flowers. I found out very quickly that I don't have a lot of purple flowers.......arghhhhhhhh!!! But that was quickly rectified and I moved on from there.
I found this very sweet photo again of my youngest with our "Sam" who I had previously mentioned is no longer with us. This was taken in very early 2006 whilst we were living in a very small mining town in regional Queensland. Cydne was not yet at Kindy and most of our days were spent out in the garden (if it wasn't too hot!). Sam was a most loyal companion. She wouldn't be too far from either of us.....but she mostly loved to play with Cydne as she was always up to some kind of mischief.  Along with this photo was one of Cydne playing dress-ups with Sam. I am not entirely sure if Sam was too happy about the whole experience .......but she always went along with mostly anything. A red cape and draped in pearls........she looked very elegant! That photo has been pulled from the box for a future layout, but until then I have ...........
"Yesterday, today & tomorrow"

It funny the things I find at the $2 shop.......and it was these Kraft straws that I found last week that were the starting point for this layout. It was a little fiddly to start off with but I glued three together and then tied jute through and around the straws and through 3 Dusty Attic pieces (Decorative Frame #2). I have let a little hang either side of the pieces and glued the remainder down.

The chipboard frames were inked randomly with Distress Inks and then I dabbed a little Crackle Accents over to highlight some areas.

Another close-up.........

And another............

Here you can see this little Bo-Bunny "Timepiece" Laser Cut Chipboard cuckoo clock. It is so delicately gorgeous. I have simply gessoed and inked it and backed it with some grey co-ordinating paper to help it pop a little. You can also see here quite well the twine wrapped around those straws.

And of course I have added in a little tea-dyed lace motif for good measure. I think this really gives the layout a pop of elegance and softness.

I have used a Kaisercraft Decorative Die (Berry Vine) on this layout. I cut 4 of these and then cut them up into pieces and tucked them in and around the chipboard base and flowers. I have listed all materials used for this project below for your convenience.

Well that is all from me today.
I hope you have enjoyed your visit with me here and hope to see you again very soon.
Until then......happy crafting.

"Forever in our hearts" DT creation for The Scrapbook Store

Hello and welcome back!
I hope you are well wherever you are in the world!
Today I am sharing the first of my Design Team creations for The Scrapbook Store.
Suzanne McGregor has spoilt me this month and supplied me with a goodies box full of
Bo Bunny's "Penny Emporium" collection.

I have titled this layout "Forever in our hearts".

I found these photos of my youngest daughter with our now departed fur friend "Sam". She was 14 when she passed and it so broke our hearts. So much so that I went without a animal companion for a good time after she left us. I can't explain why but she was such an integral part of our family and it just didn't seem right to replace her.
Sam towards the end was suffering from a rare form of skin cancer. It took a huge toll on me, looking after her every day bathing her cancers and bandaging her so to keep her comfortable. Not once did she cry or bite or look the littlest bit sad. So to make the decision that she was too leave us was the hardest thing I have ever done and it really still tears me apart today. We all miss her especially my youngest....this is for her.

I have rubbed over my resins using some Viva Inks Gold to give them some dimension.

Look at the wonderful cracks made with Finnabair's art Extravagance Texture Paste - White Crackle. I love to lay it over thickly on distress inked chipboards. The paste soaks up the inks whilst setting. Gives it a little extra hit of colour.

Here you can see the ink that has popped through the Crackle Paste......just love this effect!

From another angle.

And another.....

I have added in my usual bits of dyed cheesecloth. I dyed this piece using some Spun Sugar Distress Ink and then watered it down a little to soften the colour.

Well that is all from me today.
I have listed all materials used for this layout below, just keep scrolling. All materials used are available from
The Scrapbook Store here

Thanks for visiting.
Until next time happy scrapping.
