Once Upon A Sketch - April 2014 Challenge

"A Mother's Love"

Welcome back.....well it has been a little while in between posts, but be assured I have been very busy scrapping away, just nothing that I can show you at present, but I will keep you posted with other updates.

For today I have a layout entry for the Once Upon A Sketch April 2014 Challenge.

So once again we have another awesome sketch by Nadia. I especially love this one Nadia ....thank you!

and of course the journalling rules.......

Journalling Theme: "An event that changed my life..."

You are free to interpret our theme ANY WAY you like. It is for your inspiration and this theme word DOES NOT need to be part of your title or journalling. But please make sure your layout is based on the sketch below and includes journalling (hidden journalling is fine). Acceptable journalling is MORE than just a sentence, or generic writing such as date/place etc. It needs to be present and at least 3 lines long. Remember, hidden journalling (under a photo/tag or behind your page) is perfectly fine but please DO let us know in your post where your journalling is.

So this is my interpretation of the sketch, which I have titled "A Mother's Love". I decided to do my journalling on the back, but I have followed the theme being "An event that changed my life....".
Being a Mum was something which I never planned and never thought would happen to me. After being told for many years that I only had a 1 percent chance of falling pregnant, I went about my ordinary life doing my ordinary things. So when I found out for the very first time that I was pregnant was more than a shock to the system to say the least. But then the second time I found out I was pregnant, I thought to myself hang on here, this was not suppose to happen!!! An even bigger shock as my husband and I though the first pregnancy was just a fluke!!!
So I have been surprisingly blessed three times over and I wouldn't have it any other way. There is no other love like it......( sorry....wiping away my tears). The love I have for my three is something that I am so blessed to have and I often think how very lucky I am. And to say that these events changed my life is an understatement. Little ol' single girl me went from party girl to responsibility plus overload. It was all meant to happen and happen for a reason. I was meant to be a Mum and as hard as it gets, I wouldn't want for anything else. I am so very proud of my kids and I would walk to hell and back for them if I had to.
So enough about my story and a little about the layout.

I have used a photo which I never thought would see the light of day, but this was the go to photo for me seeing as Ashlea's 13 th birthday is fast approaching. This photo was taken only moments after Ashlea was delivered, and all I remember doing after this photo was taken was cry, but a good kind of cry. Kind a normal response knowing that this little human that you have bought into this crazy world is healthy and well. And surprised also to know that this baby was a girl. I had not found out the baby's sex and was certain for the most of my pregnancy that the baby was a boy!! Ha Ha surprise..... This is one layout which I will leave in her album for her to know how very much she was wanted and loved and will be be forever more. Love you Ashlea xxxxxx.

So I decided to do a mixed media layout, with lots of inks, mists and a little paint and of course a lot of embossing powders. I have included the all important Prima resins....Vintage frame and birdcage. Both of these resins have been dressed with a little paint and ink. I have also used a couple of strips of my ever decreasing stash of my Prima Engraver Measuring Tape patterned paper....

The leaves on this page were embossed using some Lindy's Stamp Gang embossing powders. (Twilight Bronze Slate). This is a gorgeous colour for those of you who like to do the vintage style layouts. The edges of the Prima canvas flowers and the Green Tara roses were also embossed.

The background Leaf Flourish Large was created using the Ranger stencil and some texture paste. I have then sprinkled over some embossing powder and heat set it.

I have used a script stamp randomly in the background using Potting Soil Archival Ink.

The stems and bases of the rosebuds have also been embossed to change up the colour from green.

I also used some of this beautiful new lace......loooooooooooove it. Have used it on nearly layout in the past week. Can't get enough of it. It has been dyed and then painted over with a little Kaisercraft Acrylic Antique White paint and inked with a little Walnut Distress ink.

I have also added a little muslin to give a rustic feel to the layout.

Journalling on the back reads:

My dearest Ashlea, from the very moment you came into this world and even long before that I have loved you with all of my heart. I will love you through thick and thin, no matter what the circumstances. You are growing into a most beautiful, caring and loving young woman. Nothing makes me prouder than to call you my daughter. I am so very proud of everything you do and are!!
Love you always.
Mum xxxxxx

As Time Goes By

Good morning everyone and a big welcome. Well I was flicking through my layout photos this morning and found this one. This was one of my very first design pieces produced for Bella Paperie and to be honest my absolute favourite. This photo of my youngest was taken on my very new Canon DSLR. As I have mentioned on many posts before she is always at the ready to have a photo taken. And this day was no exception. She was so excited, she kept jumping around the place - lucky for me I got this one while she was a little quieter!!!

It is titled:

"As Time Goes By"

The papers used here are from Bo-bunny. And an old book page from my favourite go to book "Little Women". This page is titled  the same! Just perfect for this layout.

Dusty Attic Skeleton clock - this was inked with Forest Moss distress ink randomly then randomly embossed with Ranger gold embossing powder again randomly.

Some very small Prima spray flowers and larger dusty pink flowers also from Prima with a few pieces of Ephemera from a Kay&Co pack.

And of course the flowers and leaves from Miss Sister Rose Violet..............all from Bella Paperie. These flowers are sensationally soft to give any layout that delicate touch. No inking needed on these beautiful flowers as they are ready shaded. Love them so. And some hand dyed lace also available from Deb.

The journaling reads: you grow more and more beautiful as time goes by.

I hope you have enjoyed visiting here today.
Hope to see you again soon.

Bride

Hello again. Today I have a Vintage Wedding share for you.
And surprise, surprise.....a photo of me on my wedding day some years ago. I was a terribly nervous Bride. Was so very worried that everything would not go to plan.....but it did. I even managed to turn up at the church early only to have the priest tell me to leave and come back in 10!! How very funny.

I chose to use the Fabscraps Classic collection again. I have done so many layouts from this paper range it is just not funny. But I absolutely adore this range of papers....so very versatile. For this layout I went for a clean and simple look. I divided the layout in half using some Seam Binding. The background paper has been sanded down to give a rustic feel.

I have also used the Die-Cut Grey Chipboard Swirls from Fabscraps, layered with material leaves and flowers from Green Tara and Kaisercraft and closed rosebuds from I am Roses. I have left the chipboards here unaltered for a fresh clean look.

You can see here I have tucked a Collections Tags under the photo and some more chipboard this time from Imaginarium, with a Vintage Frame and an oval metal frame topped with a flat cabochon over the top of a cut out damask from the Fabscraps Classic papers.

And another close-up......

And another chipboard, this title "Bride" from Memory Maze.

Well I certainly hope you have enjoyed your visit here today.
Hope to see you here again soon.

Published in February's Volume 16 #8 of Scrapbooking Memories - Follow Your Dreams

This is a recently published layout of mine from the February Issue of Scrapbooking Memories.

You will find this layout in the Vintage Gallery.

I absolutely adore this photo of my youngest taken a few years back whilst we were on a camping holiday at Canarvon Gorge. This walk that we were on took us to a most beautiful swimming hole. I do remember the kids having a bit of a whinge about the distance, but once we arrived there was nothing but cheers of happiness. This was one of our most memorable holidays. The kids utterly enjoyed the swimming and sitting around campfires getting warm and toasting marshmallows.
Anyway enough about the holiday and a little about this layout.

Some close-ups for you....

I have used Pion Design papers here from the Vintage Garden Collection, layered combinations of Peony Phlox, Pink Ornament, Phlox, and Borders with a little muslin inserted randomly.

Chipboard flourishes and vintage nameplates from Memory Maze were all sprayed with Olive Vine Glimmermist and then swiped over with a little Iridescent Medium to give that shimmery touch. The Green Tara leaves were also glimmermisted in Olive Vine.

Beautiful  flowers from Petaloo.

Wood flourish Window and Rub - on quote from Kaisercraft reads:

Follow your dreams and never let them slip away.....

Hope you have enjoyed your visit here.

Beautiful

Hello and welcome back. I have a share for today that is one of my older layouts but also a favourite of mine. The photo of my daughter Cydne was taken some time ago, but it is just one of those photos that I will treasure always.

For this layout I have used papers from Authentique and wait for it Laser Cut Cupcake Wraps!!
I love to use these to frame photos. I sprayed three wraps with Glimmermist (Olive Vine) and then inked randomly using Distress Ink - Black Soot. I then glue them together (it is a little fiddly, but with a little perseverance, I got there). I then popped some liquid pearls around the frame work.

The die-cut butterflies have been powder embossed and then a few drops of liquid pearls placed on top for its body. I have also used a couple of Prima resin goodness (bird and birdcage).

The chipboard word from Memory Maze was also glimmer-misted.
I also made a couple of flowers from the flat Kaisercraft Paper flowers to add a little more dimension and  greenery to the layout. To do this I  folded three flowers in to quarters and then glue them together at the sides and cut the base down so that it fits snugly.Other flowers included here are Prima, Bella! and again Kaisercraft paper blooms.

Well I hope that you have enjoyed your visit here.

Have a great day.
