"All I want for Christmas" created for The Scrapbook Store

Hello once more!
Today I have the last of my creations for The Scrapbook Store using Blue Fern Studio's Vintage Christmas collection. I have been absolutely spoilt with this collection for November! The softness of  vintage scrolls and flourishes accompanied by the pops of red are just gorgeous. And it has really pushed me to use red which is not a go to colour for me!

This has been titled
"All I want for Christmas"

I started off with this layout by making a very layered photo mat using Blue Fern Studios - Vintage Christmas - Deck the Halls patterned paper by alternating between the front and back . All pieces were distressed and mounted.

I used a little Gold Embossing Powder on my Dusty Attic Chipboard pieces. And then distressed them a little to keep with the vintage style of the paper.

I made a large cluster of flowers consisting of florals, leaves and fussy cut elements.

I tucked a little tea stained cheesecloth in to soften the page.

Another fussy cut element was the Christmas Bell from the Magical Blue Fern Studios paper.
As always I have made a complete list of the materials used for this creation, just keep scrolling to find it at the end of this post. Remember all materials can be found here at The Scrapbook Store.

Well that is all from me today.
I so hope you have enjoyed your stay here.

"Solitude" - Design Team creation for Dusty Attic

Hello ......and a  very warm welcome to you. Today I have my interpretation of November's Inspiration Moodboard which you can find below. I decided to use the blues and orange from the board to start off my layout.

My next immediate thought lead me straight to the beach!

I have titled this layout "Solitude".

I used this photo of my youngest daughter taken a few years back for the simple reason that she, at the time, was always in her own little world doing her own little thing. And on this particular day it was to simply walk her shoes out as far as she could go and then watch them just float off. Of course I was far too busy clicking away to notice, until I saw one float on by me................... like mother like daughter I guess.......both in our own little worlds........

I got to use some of my beautiful Dusty in Colour Acrylic Paints this time around. To co-ordinate my page I decided to dress my Wild Orchid Flowers with the Dusty in Colour paints (Denim, Faded Denim and Beige) and then dried them off. I then dry brushed them with a little gesso and inked the edges and stamens with co-ordinating Distress Inks.

I have used some Blue Fern Studios papers from the Frolic collection to help co-ordinate with my page. I did a little tearing to start off with and inked and layered each torn piece. I have used a scallop frame stamp image that I created to make some little tags using Walnut Stain and Rusty Hinge Distress Inks. Each of these were cut, inked and layered around the page.

When I do a beach layout I often use shells from my extensive collection. My girls and I love to comb the beach on each visit for those special shells and pieces of the ocean that I can use for my creating. Sometimes we even are lucky enough to find special fibrous pieces, but alas our last few trips to the beach has left us empty handed, so for this layout I used a little moss which I have simply coated with gesso to lighten the intensity of it.  I have draped a few pieces of the moss in and around the anchor and the flowers clusters for a more realistic beach side look.

Okay so now down to the chipboard. I have chosen to use a Damask chippie along with the Ornate Scrolls to co-ordinate with my background papers. Each piece of chipboard was firstly coated with gesso, then inked with Rusty Hinge, Weathered Wood, Walnut Stain and Espresso Distress Inks. They were then all spritzed with a little water, dried and then dressed with a lot of Clear Crackle Varnish and left to dry. Once they were dry I then rubbed through some Chipped Sapphire Distress Ink into the cracks and wiped away the excess with a baby wipe.

The Damask chipboard was cut into three section and divided up to the top and below of the photo as shown in the layout.

Another little chipboard that I have used is these most gorgeous mini seagulls. So darn cute!!

The anchor, which you can almost not see buried amongst the flower cluster here is how I would imagine an anchor to look after a very long time in salt water. I only inked this chipboard as I wanted a very intense colour from the distress inks. I have used Distress Inks Espresso, Walnut Stain and Rusty Hinge to achieve this look. I dried it off with a heating tool and then dabbed it over with a little gesso here and there and again with the Clear Crackle Varnish I dabbed some in sections where I wanted to highlight a more intense colour.

Well that is all from me today. I hope you have enjoyed your visit here at Dusty Attic and I will see you again very soon.
Until next time take care and happy scrapping.

"Once Upon A Time" created for The Scrapbook Store

Good morning.......! I am up with the birds this morning at a very early 4.20am!
Best time of day to get things done I find.
This morning I have another share of a design team creation, created for The Scrapbook Store. I have been so very lucky this month to be using Blue Fern Studios Vintage Christmas collection and I absolutely adore it. However when I come across this particular piece of patterned paper from the collection I was immediately drawn to it, and decided on doing something non-christmas.
I recently hosted a Mad Hatters Tea Party for my youngest daughters birthday. We all dressed for the occasion as our favourite "Alice in Wonderland" character. I bought a Queen of Heart costume for myself,,,,but when I saw my oldest daughter wearing it .......the decision was not hard to let her wear it instead. So you ask what did I go as then. Hehehehhehehehe well I was Tweedle Dumb of course or should it be Tweedle Dee. She looked absolutely gorgeous with her hair and makeup. Not to mention her wonderful photography poses!

I present to you "Once Upon A Time" - The Queen of Hearts.

This one is for you Miss Carol.......probably the closest thing I will ever get to doing something a little dark and gothic like! xxxxx

I started off with matting each photo with the reverse of the Blue Fern Studios Wonderland patterned paper. Each photo and matting was then embossed with gold embossing powders and highlighted with a little Black Soot distress ink.

I love my lace and I especially love this lace motif. I have popped it under the embossed Royal Baubles pieces which I have cut up and layered to sit both at the top and the bottom of the main photo.

The Blue Fern Chipboard Leafy Bough was cut into many pieces.....but before this it was dressed with Gesso, distress inks, water, crackle accents and little more distress inks and then cut up into a LOT of pieces to sit around the flower cluster.

Another closeup of the base cluster with all the elements of the flourishes, moss, cheesecloth and the closed rose buds.

I made my  own transparencies and then fussy cut them to tuck in and around the clusters and photos.

I added in some Kaisercraft Red Pearls to help make the chipboard Royal Bauble pop!

Thank you for making the time to visit me here today, I really do appreciate it.

I have made a complete list of the materials used for this project. You can find them below if you keep scrolling. All materials here are available online at The Scrapbook Store.

Until next time.......take care.
