"Live for the moments you can not put into words" DT project for 49andMarket

Hi there friends. It has been a super busy week but all these deadlines surely keep me on my toes. For this project I have chosen to use a collection I have been dying to use for some time now..... Vintage Artistry’s Sky collection. And for this project I decided to use a photo of my son from a few years back on a travelling holiday we made as a family to Sydney. We had found a beautiful beach in Forster and stayed for a few days. My children were in their element soaking up the rays of the sun and swimming each and every day. Great memories to treasure!

So to start my project off I primed my patterned paper “Alabaster” that I selected for my background. I love these papers as they accommodate for a photo and you really need to do very little to the backgrounds except for building beneath your photo and adding colours and textures. Once the background dried I added some crackle texture paste through a stencil and allowed it to dry.

I then moved on to making layers with the new Sky Nouveau Ephemera Stack. Oh my goodness. There is nothing better than these stacks. It takes away all the time from cutting papers and finding the -coordinating colours to match. I would highly recommend these packs for the ease of convenience. So I chose from the pack what I needed and then positioned and adhered together along with my photo. These were then adhered to my layout background and then I went to work on adding in my 3D embellishments.

After I added in my embellishments I added in some flowers from the Vintage Shades Blue Cluster pack along with a couple of miscellaneous sage flowers from my ever growing stash. I also popped in some beach finds which I always think adds that special touch to a beach layout. This time around I added in some seaweed and sponge found on one of our scavenger beach finds. These are washed well and dried for a very very long time. Before adding to a project I always dress them with a coat or two of clear gesso or a matt gel. This will keep them from breaking and protect your layout.

At the end of my project I worked on adding in some more interest using art stones in various sizes and Dusty Attic chipboards which believe it or not was a last minute add. These chipboards pieces were dressed in powder pigments and then covered in a clear gesso to keep the powder on the chipboards and not my hands. Well I hope today I have inspired you in some small way. Until next time take care and stay safe.
