"To the moon and back" Dusty Attic Moodboard Inspired Creation

Hello and welcome back. Today I am here with you to share my Dusty Atticmoodboard inspired project for August.
This is titled

"To the moon and back".....

And below is the Dusty Attic moodboard that I drew inspiration from. For this project I used the colours of course and also the shabby features of the board along with laces to take from the sewing pieces in it as well.

Remember there is still time to enter your project for some awesome Dusty Attic chipboard prizes.

For this project I have used a photo of my youngest when she was only very young. There have been many of these photos from a sequence of photos that I have used over the years. So innocent and sweet!! I remember this day that her and I spent out in the garden as we did a lot back then. She decided to catch butterflies with the lobby net. I think she was successful but as always her sweet nature of course, was to release it and not to hurt it.

For the background papers I have used Maja Designs gorgeous Celebration Collection. This has become a true favourite of mine over the past month. The collection caters for most of those pretty shabby colours and it was especially a perfect fit for my project here. The papers are listed below.

And I have also used a couple of the Monochromes . These are just perfect for matching each collection or on their own, but this was great as I had run out of paper and need some matting for my photo.

I did some tearing and layered up my papers to highlight my 4 x 6 portrait photo. And as mentioned. I used the monochromes to mat my photo.

I did lots of layering using this gorgeous lace. I cut it so that it formed a v on my layout which helped to frame my large lacey frame which I cut in half and laid at the base of the photo. This chipboard piece was inked and also sponged with a little of Dusty Attic's Oceania Acrylic Paint.  The smaller frame was also cut in half and laid at the top left of the layout to start my corner cluster  .

         Lacey Frames large and small

Below is more of the gorgeous pieces of Dusty that was used for this project. The pieces were all dressed similarly using Walnut Stain Distress Ink, Oceania Paint and a little gesso. Sponging paint over the dried ink gives a really interesting outcome.

I have also added in some gorgeous florals from 49andMarket from the Botanicals collection and a few tiny flowers from Garden Seeds. Each of these were dry brush with some gesso to lighten the colours a little. The stamens of the flowers were coloured with some chocolate liquid pearls. I also added in some tea stained cheesecloth and a few art stones.

I have also added in some jute that was tied around a group of the foliage and added to the front of the window and shutters that were bent to look aged.

Well that is all from me today. I do hope you have enjoyed my moodboard inspired project.

 Until next time happy crafting.

Hugs xo

"Happiness" Art Playground Blog DT Creation

Tina here with my August share of this months play - Be Authentic. I think you would totally agree that this month's colour scheme are exceptionally stunning. My immediate response was of course to do something a little beachy.
This is "Happiness"..............

And the reason for this title is that, that is exactly where we find our happiness ...... at the beach. Family time and holidays are usually always made at a beachside and that is where we will relax and find ourselves and spend time with each other doing the things that we may not do in the everyday life.

The title for the Art Playground August Play is ... be authentique. For me, my creations I find are a part of me. They are genuine and from the heart. I can only ever craft with photos of my beautiful family because that is where my inspiration stems from and also my authenticity.  I do hope you enjoy my authenticity today with my beach themed layout. I have a few more photos of close ups of my project for you to see a little clearer.
For my layouts to be authentic I always love to use shells and bits and bobs that we may find at the beach whilst beachcombing. I love these ones that I found above. I find they really bring the layout together. I have coloured these ones to coordinate with my page as you can see above.
The colour scheme of this months board I think is a perfect match for this particular photo. The flowers and papers from 49andMarket were a perfect fit as they coordinate with the grey sand that my daughter was playing with in the photo. To lighten the flowers I have dry brushed them with white gesso to lighten and also some paints that I also used on the background work of my layout.
I have also added in some cute little pieces of Dusty Attic chipboards to compliment my layout. The little anchor is an all time favourite. The flourishes give the layout movement and I think work really well with this.
To finish my layout I added in some art stones along with coloured muslin. You can see these below and above.
And one more. The pretty pearls help that page pop a little more.

Well that is all from me today. I hope you will give this month's play a go. All details about how to enter your project can be found here: https://www.artplaygroundblog.com/single-post/2018/07/31/AUGUST-PLAY-BE-AUTHENTIC
Until next time take care and happy crafting.
Hugs Tina xo

"Sweet Reflections" - Remember - 49andMarket / Dusty Attic DT project

Hello friends !

I am back once more to greet you with a project completed over the last week.

This is my project
"Remember"

I pondered for quite some time about which photo I would use for this project and then it came to me. It isn't a great photo but for me it really is about the memories that each picture provokes for me. I remember taking my 3 children to the Centennial Lakes for a morning out on our bikes and this I thought was one of the cutest photos from that day. My third who has a very adventurous soul, just took off on her little bike leaving us all behind. That is where I usually was with her, right behind.............

So about the project. I used the 49andMarket collection Sweet Reflections to create with for my project this time around. I used a few pieces and I mean a few. Some of the patterned papers I used two of so that I could remove some of the gorgeous foliage to fussy cut. I know that there is a lot of you that really don’t like to fussy cut so much, but rest assured I also used a sheet of the Sweet Reflections laser cuts also to minimise the amount of fussy cutting I did. It really is the perfect solution for those of you who really detest doing this. These laser cuts are cut perfectly to the image and there is no shadowing around each.

To start I cut out the branch frame from the patterned paper crossroads leaving all of the foliage. I then attached this to framework made from Pause and the b side of Awakening. Did a little distressing and then followed on by cutting more images from another piece of Awakening.

I also cuts foliage and flowers from the bottom right square of the beautiful Easy Cuts paper. Once I had all my paper pieces cut I went on and did some matting of my photo using leftover pieces and building it up to sit in the left corner of the branch. I adhered this and then tied the very elegant Ornate Frame #1 Dusty Attic frame to the photo. I also added in a few other pieces of frame chipboards to help embellish the page and break up the floral and foliage images.

This was dressed with Crackle medium and allowed to dry. I used some Distress Inks to colour it to match in with my project.

Ornate Frame #1

Below you can see that I have also used the gorgeous and I have to admit my newest favourite as I said a few weeks back. It is the Iron Garnish #6. A simply stunning piece that I think we all should have a couple of packs on standby, just saying! Again this piece was dressed with gesso and inks. I also added a Dusty Attic pearl to it as well.

And here below I have used the first of the ATC Frames to break up the foliage and flowers in the clusters. This was dressed the same as previous pieces. I cut this piece in half to go further.

And above here you can see the addition of one of the Clock Faces without the hands that I have added in behind the photo matting and foliage. It was simply primed with white gessso and coloured with Distress Inks to compliment the layout.

Well that is all from me today.

Happy Crafting and big hugs xxx
